An audiovisual performance responding to the archive of Dimas Efthyvoulos (1924–2011), a Cypriot photographer who lived in the Peruvian Amazon between 1979 and 1989, seeking to capture "the spirits of the jungle". Conceived as a reinterpretation of Efthyvoulos's audiovisual presentation, Spirits of the Jungle or Other Aspects of Reality, which was presented throughout Europe and South America in the 1990's and 2000's, the performance comprised a projection of Efthyvoulos's "spirit" photographs alongside a long-form music composition drawing on the artist's audio tapes (which include recordings from shamanic rituals and the Amazonian jungle, among others) and his poetic and philosophical writings.
The performance was created in the framework of the exhibition Spirits of the Rainforest: A Photographic Innovation at The Island Club (July – October 2021). It was presented in July 2021 at phenomena, a one-week programme of contemporary art on the Aegean island of Anafi organised by the Collection Kerenidis Pepe — Association Phenomenon, and in August 2021 at the Limassol International Documentary Festival in the context of Spirits of the Rainforest, an audiovisual programme curated by Androula Kafa, which also comprised a screening of videos from Efthyvoulos's archive and a live performance by Cypriot musician and DJ, mohama tajalof (Veronica Georgiou).
